About Us

Empowering Women. Transforming Communities.

The New Sustainable Development for Women and Orphans/Vulnerable Children Programme (NSUDWOP) is a women-led community-based organization rooted in Kisumu, Kenya. We believe that true transformation begins when women and communities have the power, tools, and voice to shape their own future.

Born from a collective vision of women changemakers, NSUDWOP works at the intersection of gender equality, community health, and social empowerment, creating sustainable solutions for those most often left behind — women, youth, and vulnerable children.

Our Story

NSUDWOP was founded with one clear purpose: to build an inclusive society where women and children can thrive with dignity, opportunity, and safety.

We began our journey in Kisumu’s informal settlements, witnessing firsthand the challenges women face — from limited access to healthcare and education to gender-based violence and economic vulnerability.

Through compassion, courage, and collaboration, we’ve turned these challenges into opportunities for empowerment. Our approach blends grassroots engagement, creative advocacy, and data-driven impact, ensuring every project we undertake creates lasting change

“To be the CBO of choice for innovation, climate change, and adaptation research and best practices training with emphasis on social, health and academic empowerment.”

Our Mission

“To mobilize community action by raising awareness, advocating for policy change, and promoting sustainable practices to mitigate the impacts of climate change
and ensure a health future generation.”

Our Core Values

Empathy: We listen deeply and act compassionately.
Accountability: We remain transparent and responsible to our communities.
Inclusivity: Every person deserves a voice and a chance.
Courage: We challenge inequality through creative advocacy.
Sustainability: We build long-term systems, not short-term fixes.

Our Work in Action

Our projects combine creativity, dialogue, and data to address real needs:

  • Voices Unmuted – Community Dialogues & Arts for Abortion Justice: Using art, storytelling, and dialogue to advance reproductive rights and dismantle stigma in Kisumu’s slums.
  • Women’s Economic Empowerment: Supporting women-led enterprises, table banking, and agribusiness innovations.
  • Youth & Community Mobilization: Engaging young people as advocates for gender equality and community health.

Every initiative is built with – not just for – the community. Because empowerment is only real when it’s shared.

Our Team

We are a network of passionate women leaders, youth mobilizers, and community health advocates who share one commitment: to make empowerment practical, local, and lasting.

From our chairlady to our grassroots volunteers, every member of NSUDWOP embodies the belief that sustainable development begins with people.
